TECHNE SOFTWARE END USER LICENSE AGREEMENT
Last updated October 9, 2026
This is the agreement shown by the plugin installers. It sits alongside the Terms of Use and the Privacy Policy.
This End User License Agreement ("Agreement") is between you and Techne.fm ("Techne", "we", "us"). It covers every Techne audio plugin (in any format: VST3, CLAP, Audio Unit or otherwise), the Techne Hub application, their installers, presets, updates and documentation (together, the "Software").
By installing, activating or using the Software, you agree to this Agreement. If you do not agree, do not install or use the Software.
1. LICENSE
The Software is licensed, not sold. Subject to this Agreement, Techne grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use the Software:
- on up to the number of computers allowed by your license (five (5) unless stated otherwise at the time you obtained it), which you control; and
- for any personal or commercial purpose, including making, recording, mixing, mastering and performing music and other audio.
Audio you create or process with the Software belongs to you. Techne claims no rights in it, and you owe no royalties for it.
2. FREE AND PAID SOFTWARE
Some Software is offered free of charge after you claim it with an email address or account; some requires purchase. A license key or license file is issued to you for each product. Free and paid licenses are both governed by this Agreement. Software used without a valid license may run in a limited or demonstration mode.
3. ACTIVATION
The Software may require online activation. Activation sends your license key, the product identifier, an identifier derived from your computer's hardware and your computer's name to Techne, so that we can check your license, count the computers it is active on and list them on your account's Devices page. You can deactivate a computer to free its activation. We handle this information as described in our Privacy Policy at https://techne.fm/privacy.
4. RESTRICTIONS
You may not, and may not let anyone else:
- sell, rent, lease, lend, sublicense, share or distribute the Software, your license key or your license file;
- share a license key or license file with others, or use it beyond the number of computers it allows;
- reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the Software, except to the extent applicable law expressly permits it despite this restriction;
- remove, bypass or tamper with the licensing, activation or copy protection of the Software;
- modify the Software or create derivative works of it; or
- remove or alter any copyright, trademark or other notices in the Software.
5. TRANSFER
You may not transfer your license to another person without Techne's written consent. To ask for a transfer, contact support@techne.fm.
6. OWNERSHIP
Techne and its licensors own the Software and all intellectual property rights in it. All rights not expressly granted in this Agreement are reserved. "Techne" and the product names are trademarks of Techne.fm.
7. THIRD-PARTY COMPONENTS
The Software includes open-source components licensed under their own terms. Those terms govern those components, and nothing in this Agreement limits your rights under them.
8. UPDATES
Techne may provide updates, but is not obliged to. Updates are covered by this Agreement unless they come with different terms. The Techne Hub may check for and download updates for the Software when you ask it to or when it is set to do so.
9. REFUNDS
Refunds for paid Software are handled under the refund policy shown at checkout on https://techne.fm at the time of purchase. Contact support@techne.fm about a refund. Where a refund is given, the license ends and you must uninstall the Software. This does not affect any right to a refund or withdrawal you have under the consumer laws of your country.
10. TERMINATION
This Agreement lasts until it ends. It ends automatically if you breach it. On termination you must stop using the Software and delete all copies. Sections 4, 6, 11, 12, 14 and 15 survive termination.
11. NO WARRANTY
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. TECHNE DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE SOFTWARE WILL BE ERROR-FREE, UNINTERRUPTED, OR COMPATIBLE WITH ANY PARTICULAR HOST, OPERATING SYSTEM OR HARDWARE. KEEP BACKUPS OF YOUR PROJECTS.
12. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, TECHNE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROJECTS, PROFITS OR REVENUE, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THE SOFTWARE OR THIS AGREEMENT, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THEIR POSSIBILITY. TECHNE'S TOTAL LIABILITY UNDER THIS AGREEMENT WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE SOFTWARE GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, OR US$10 IF THAT SOFTWARE WAS FREE.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty exclusions or liability limits, so some of the above may not apply to you. Nothing in this Agreement excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law.
13. CHANGES
Techne may update this Agreement. The version shown when you install or update the Software applies to that version of the Software.
14. GOVERNING LAW
This Agreement is governed by the laws of the State of New York, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. The United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods does not apply. Any dispute arising from this Agreement or the Software will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in New York, and you and Techne consent to their jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, this does not take away the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, or your right to bring a claim in its courts.
15. GENERAL
This Agreement, together with the Terms of Use at https://techne.fm/terms, is the entire agreement between you and Techne about the Software. If any part of it is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Techne's failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it.
